Time Management for College Students


As a college student, you have a lot of things to do and you might feel this is your first time to have the flexibility and independence to set your own schedule. First thing first, you need to know what your foes (that prevent you from doing things). Once you know the things that distract you, you can simply avoid it by making goals to not get distracted by those things. However, instead of avoiding it, you can make it as rewards for staying focused and accomplishing the tasks you set out to complete.

2. A Thing at A Time 

Don’t multitask if you don’t want to drop down your IQ. Because it is said by a study conducted in the University of London that someone who does multitasking will drop his/her IQ just like someone who didn’t sleep the night before. Finish one task and move to the next for better productivity and time consumption. It will also train you to prioritize your tasks. Aiming to finish the biggest tasks first might give you the feeling of free time to do small tasks after that.

What is the similarity between you and Batman? Both of you need a to-do list. This list will surely help to keep you on track and it also acts as a reminder. 4. Find and Shape Your Routine

Things that you do over and over every day are called routines. By knowing your routines, you will be able to avoid time-waster things since you automatically do the same things at specific times.
Think about what you always do in the morning, afternoon, and night times. Stick to a routine by making a journal of what you do every day and you will see the pattern.

5. Be resilient 

Train yourself to be resilient, that is to be able to stay strong and recover fast to face the challenge, obstacle or problem. Resilient people don’t give up, they just figure out a way to get over the problem quickly and move to the next target as planned.

6. Take Time Off

You need to give your mind a rest. Far from screens or textbooks. It may reduce your back pain, irritable bowel syndrome, and insomnia. To stay healthy by practicing scheduled regular exercise can also keep your mind fresh. As a result, you will be more focused when doing homework. Making time to socialize with your friends, eat delicious meals, laugh a lot will surely reduce your stress and be ready for any college challenges ahead which are time and mind consuming.

7. Mistakes are your best friends

There is no time to cry over spilled milk, your time is precious. Instead, you can take the mistakes as lessons which you should not do for a second time. By that, you will get more free time which you can fill it with more beneficial activities.
