GENERAL OVERVIEW OF INTERNATIONAL GLOBAL NETWORK (IGN)

International Global Network believes that every person deserves the opportunity to learn with global exposure in this advanced world. We create the opportunities for everyone so they can grow and have the motivation to be the future leader.

With the mission of “Connecting youth leaders to the world”, we always strive to innovate various programs as strategic platforms for youth to develop, explore, and create changes to make the world a better place.

Currently, MUN has become one of our annual events which we provide for young leaders to develop their skill and knowledge of international issues through diplomacy way with multilateral environment.  By now we have several big MUN such Asia Youth International MUN, Asia World MUN, Global Goals MUN, and some more for upcoming MUN.

IGN SECRETARIAT FOR MUN 2018: Dare your self and be part of something huge!

If you have Model UN experience and are prepared to dedicate yourself to making a remarkable conference, you are the right person for the position!

The IGN Secretariat for MUN will take responsibility for the planning and execution our Model UN conference. Being part of the Secretariat is an astounding opportunity for learning and skills development and we encourage undergraduate, graduate and/or young professionals from around the world to apply.

All Secretariat positions will be contracted for one year for following position such as Secretary-General (SG), Undersecretaries General (USG), chairs, co-chair, etc) and require a commitment during the time frame prior to the conference, a full time commitment during the conference itself and a commitment of few hours after the conference for an executive meeting and other concluding tasks. Only those candidates who are short-listed will be invited to continue with the interviewing process.

THE SECRETARY - GENERAL

The Secretary-General (SG) is responsible for the creation, organization, and execution of the conference’s substantive programmes as well as the co-management of the ‘Committee Staff’ – consisting of USG, Chairs, etc.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop committee structure, themes, content, and guidelines for topic proposals (written by directors)
  • Establish clear and achievable goals for each committee in order to ensure the success of the overall Conference’s substantive programme
  • Create the country matrix that will allow the assignment of UN Member States to participating delegates in the Conference
  • Support the recruitment team in hiring the ‘Conference Staff’ by conducting interviews, evaluating candidate’s overall application, and making well-informed decisions to ensure the success of the Conference
  • Direct the research, writing, and editing process conducted by the ‘Conference Staff,’ including Background 
Guides (BG) and committee blogs; and
  • Establish clear guidelines for delegates to write comprehensive and analytical Position Paper (PP) while communicating clear deadlines.
Please note that Secretariat duties are exible and responsibilities may change throughout the planning process.

GENERAL SECRETARIAT REQUIREMENTS

  • Completed or currently pursuing a university degree (eg. BA, B.Ed., BSc., B.Soc.Sc., JD, MA, MPP, MBA, etc)
  • Demonstrated interest in the United Nations, global governance, and international relations
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem solving skill, interpersonal skills; and
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous Model UN experience as both a delegate and staff/secretariat member;
  • In-depth knowledge of the UN system;
  • Ability to analyze complex topics concerning the UN agenda and global affairs effectively and in a timely manner; and
  • Support the recruitment team in hiring the ‘Conference Staff’ by conducting interviews, evaluating candidate’s overall application, and making well-informed decisions to ensure the success of the Conference
  • Strong research, writing, and editing skills.
  • Professionalism in their work, be very responsive to email and social media platform with others committees throughout the entire conference preparation process.
  • Be open to constructive feedback, willing to create a comprehensive study guide.
